A2. I'm sorry if this question seems odd, but... If you were going to throw someone a birthday celebration, what would you do?
[She's, surprisingly, already done getting a birthday gift for someone, but she wants to do something more than just that for 9S' birthday. She just doesn't have any idea what. Hence, this random question...]

she's aware of 9S' birthday thanks to 2B's memories, so the question isn't as random as it seems at first. but there's a bit of a delay in response as A2 tries to figure out how to answer this. ]
... Probably do something that they'd like to do. [ which, in 9S' case, probably means spending time with 2B. ] Is there anything he likes or has always wanted to do, but never got the chance to?
... I'm not sure honestly. We've already gone t-shopping and multiple times at that. I don't know if there's anything else he's always wanted to do.
[It makes her very aware of how despite how well she thinks she knows 9S, she's not sure on things like his interests and hobbies outside of general things. Maybe they're small matters, but after everything, she feels like she should know.]

[Even though it's telepathy, you can almost hear the faint smile in her voice. She wasn't expecting anything like that from A2 given their mutual confusion and unfamiliarity with these kinds of things, so it was a truly pleasant surprise to see the gift.]
[And it's clear in her tone that that's what matters to her. A2 tried to take care of him for her when she never even had to accept her final request. No matter how things ended, she'll always be grateful to her for that. Always.]

[ she tried. she tried with what she got, and in the end she couldn't fulfill that promise. but there's no anger in 2B's tone, no discomfort, not even after knowing the truth of what happened. and maybe it's enough, because they're all here now, and while she had thought that the three of them would never be able to get along or even be cordial with each other, she has spent more time with 2B and 9S than she ever did back on their world. it's been more than a month since she first arrived on the island, and in that time, she has come to understand them not as enemies, but as comrades. perhaps even friends.
and that thought is humbling in and of itself. ]
